Interpreting at the European Parliament
The European Parliament works in the 24 official languages of the EU, giving 552 possible language combinations. Plenary sessions and committee meetings are interpreted by its own service, which relies on around 270 staff interpreters and a reserve of accredited freelance interpreters, according to the European Parliament.
To work for the institutions, a freelance interpreter must pass the inter-institutional accreditation test run jointly by the Parliament, the Commission and the Court of Justice of the EU: a simultaneous and a consecutive test for each language.
Around these official meetings, many events have to organise their own interpreting: conferences and workshops hosted by MEPs, meetings of European associations and federations, EU-funded projects, visiting delegations. That is where we come in.
Interpreters for parliaments and delegations
Beyond the European Parliament, we work with national and regional parliaments, parliamentary delegations visiting Brussels and inter-parliamentary meetings: working sessions, institutional visits, official dinners, press conferences.
We choose interpreters versed in legislative and budgetary vocabulary and in the terminology of the EU institutions.
