When do you need to translate your driving licence?
To exchange a non-European driving licence at the City of Brussels, the commune asks for a translation by a sworn translator when the original licence is not written in French, Dutch or English. Other communes apply similar rules: check with yours.
At the City of Brussels, the exchange is possible in particular if you have been registered in Belgium for at least 185 days, have your main residence there and obtained your licence before your registration. Each file is examined individually.
Licences issued in the European Union follow different rules: ask your commune.
